About
FootageStudio is a stand alone video processor designed for quality, speed and ease of use.
*Support for different input and output formats depending on libraries installed in the system. Please see tech specs for more information.
1: Partial MXF support from some cameras. 2: About bit depths supported, FootageStudio version 1.1 supports 8 and 16 bits per pixel internal processing workflow, depending on the input and output video bitdepths, the internal 8 or 16 bits processing workflow is automatically selected for each video being processed.
Get your videos ready to edit or publish.
FootageStudio is a stand alone video processor, featuring from simple fast transcoding to complete video transformation, all in one step : standards conversion, frame rate conversions and corrections, resample, aspect ratio conversions, denoise, filters, color correction, audio conversions, slow motion and more. FootageStudio includes the highest quality algorithms for video processing to produce crisp videos ready to edit or distribute. Internal processing supports 8 and 16 bit processing to achieve the maximum image quality. The single window user interface along with Smart Batch processing feature allows an easy and fast configuration even for complex processing tasks.
Import any video standard , transform to any video standard, in one click
Import any video stardard/format, in SD/HD/4K, NTSC or PAL, any resolution, any aspect ratio, any framerate, interlaced or progressive, and then just select any output video standard in SD/HD/4K.The smart batch processing automatically configures the best conversion mode for each video. All conversions are supported, from any dimensions, any frame rates, any aspect ratios, interlaced to progressive or progressive to interlaced.

Configure the processing
Produce
Import your videos in any format or standard. Supports common formats and containers like AVI,MTS,MOV,MXF,MP4,MKV,h.264,h.265, pro formats like XAVC, DNxHD*, ProRes* VC-5/Cineform or Grass Valley*, image sequences, and video cameras formats from consumer to prosumer/pro models, including HDV, AVCHD, newest HDSLRs from Canon, Panasonic or Sony, GoPro cameras, and XDCam HD/EX,AVC-Intra and DVCProHD.
The processing settings can be configured easily with a few mouse clicks. All the processing options are shown on a single tab. The trimming, aspect ratio/zoom, denoise and enhance/color correction features can be previewed in real time.
Finally, select the output video format and encoder, and press the start button. The preview feature allows to produce and preview multiple videos to compare the results of different settings before the final processing.
Different video formats can be mixed for processing, for instance, you can import several videos in different formats like 720p60, 1080i60, 4Kp30, 480i30 or 1080p25. Then just select a presetting, for instance 1080p30, and press the start button,  all the videos will be converted to 1080p30 using the best conversion method for each format.
Convert any format to 24p-60p with film blur
When down converting frame rates to 24p, 25p, 30p, 50p and 60p, there are available several conversion modes: direct conversion mode, blending mode and film blur mode. The film blur mode can be configured by selecting a shutter angle or a shutter speed equivalent motion blur. The film blur mode allows to get perfect 24p like film conversions from high frame rates with low shutter speeds. For high frame rate cameras like GoPro, a 100p, 120p or 240p videos can be converted to standard 60p,50p or 24p with film blur to fix the low shutter speed effect.
The most versatile video processor
Convert different sources to match your project format
Transcode/encode processed videos to pro formats in 8/10 bits
FootageStudio includes support for encoding to high quality edit friendly formats in 8-bit and 10-bit, like MJPEG, DNxHD or ProRes, with 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 chroma format. Chroma upscaling and reconstruction are performed using high quality dedicated algorithms.
Bit depth upscaling to 10-bit with dithering and DCR mode
For upscaling the bit depth from 8-bit to 10-bit, FootageStudio offers three conversions modes, direct upscaling, dithering and DCR mode. The dither mode performs fully configurable dithering increasing reducing the banding and increasing the quality. The DCR mode performs a reconstruction of the missing information with 16-bit resampling mode.
Frame accurate video trimming
Simply select one or more video segments from the original video, the output video will be cut accurately from the first to the last frame selected. Frame accurate trimming works on most video formats including AVCHD and h.264. Video timecode can be used, and it is recalculated for each video segment processed.
Blazing speeds
128-bit architecture and GPU support
Multi core CPU support: process several videos simultaneously
All processing functions are optimized to SSE3 128-bit architecture for fastest processing on newest Intel and AMD processors. CUDA and OpenCL GPU processing is suported for compatible graphic cards.
When batch-processing several videos, FootageStudiotm can process up to 4 videos simultaneously, depending on the output format and processing settings, this allows to get a speed increase of about 2x-4x.
Remove unwanted noise
Remove unwanted noise from your videos while preserving the fine detail. New XM Denoisertm is integrated in the workflow, and can be configured in the easiest way using a visual user interface with real time preview.
Overcrank multiplies the original video frames, using high quality motion estimation techniques, interpolating the motion to generate new video frames. Overcrank features an easy configuration, just adjust from 2x to 40x the final frame multiplication. For instance a 60fps video with overcrank 4x will get the equivalent of a 240fps slow motion , or 4x slowler.
Get perfect slow motion
Apply video filters
Several video filters can be added to the workflow to modify or enhance the videos: Video enhancing and color correction Motion/film blur configurable by shutter angle or shutter speed. Remove video artifacts Add film grain Color space conversions between Rec.601(SD), Rec709(HD) and rec.2020(4k) Chroma smoothing and swapping PC/JPEG and TV/MPEG levels conversions with superwhites. Flip video and Grayscale conversion.
Audio processing allows to change the audio characteristics like sample rate, bits per sample and audio channels. Multiple audio tracks are supported. Audio channels can be remapped to mono audio tracks, and extracted to audio files. When changing or correcting the video frame rate, the audio is pitch is automatically corrected to match the new frame rate.
Audio Processing
FootageStudio provides to your favorite video editor all the videos matching your project format, speeding up the edition and avoiding low quality conversions. Also you can easily convert your final videos to different distribution formats, from h.264 to small compressed webm videos. When downscaling 4k 4:2:0 to HD or SD in 8/10-bit, the produced videos get crisp luma and real 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 chroma.
Transform 4K to crisp HD/SD in 8-bit/10-bit
Aspect ratio conversions  / Zoom
Convert any aspect ratio with letterboxing/pillarboxing or zooming, using a visual user interface to accurately adjust the changes and preview the final result in real time. Aspect ratio changes are performed with ITU-R or digital conformance. FootageStudio includes high quality digital zoom, for instance to remove lens vignetting easily. Supports any standard or custom aspect rations like 4:3, 16:9 and film aspect ratios like 2.35:1 or 1.85:1
